Vitamin D injections
Vitamin D is a nutrient you need to keep your bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
Very few foods naturally contain Vitamin D, manufacturers add it to fortified food. The body creates Vitamin D from direct sunlight NHS ENGLAND note that in winter months typically we are more prone to deficiency.
Vitamin D helps your bones absorb calcium, the main component for strong bones. It also plays a crucial role in supporting the immune system, reducing inflammation and regulating cell growth.
Symptoms of deficiency include:
- Tiredness
- Aches/muscle spasm, cramps
- Poor sleep
- Low mood
Vitamin D injections are typically given between October-April when we have less exposure to natural sunlight, when diet and oral supplements are not sufficient to maintain optimum Vitamin D levels.
This is not intended to treat or cure any underlying illnesses or disease, which is why it is important to pop along, have a chat whereby we can prescribe this if deemed appropriate.
A single small injection should suffice once every 6 months .
Vitamin B12 injections
Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that your body needs but cannot produce.
Vital for brain function, heart health and keeping your bodies blood and nerve cells healthy. It is found naturally in a wide variety of animal foods manufacturers add it to fortified foods. It is available in oral supplement form.
For those who have disorders of the stomach and small intestine, they may have difficulty absorbing this nutrient, an injection of Vitamin B12 may be more beneficial, it can also be used by vegans and vegetarians.
Symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency include:
- Lack of energy
- Headaches
- Feeling faint
- Low mood
- Palpitations
- Pale skin
- Tiredness

Injections of Vitamin B12 will be prescribed by one of our pharmacists if deemed appropriate. They are usually recommended every 3-6 months to maintain healthy levels, but dependent on each individuals health needs.
